Policies Registration Policy

Students are registered according to academic needs and objectives.
Registration refers to the process by which a student selects a set of modules according to the degree plan and guidance of his/her academic adviser and formally enrols in those modules. Information relating to the schedule of classes, location and deadlines of the registration period and timetables will be displayed on the notice boards well in advance of the scheduled registration period.

While every effort will be made to address the requirements of the degree plan, students who are out of phase cannot be guaranteed a conflict free schedule of modules in their degree plan. Furthermore, students may be prevented from registering in modules for lack of student positions, timetable conflicts, submission of incomplete information, outstanding book loans or other dues to College, disciplinary actions or other academic actions such as failure to meet the pre-requisites and co-requisites, academic probations etc.

Registration shall start and end on the notified days before classes begin. Late registration beyond the notified date is usually not permitted. However under exceptional circumstances, students’ request for late registration may be considered if valid reasons that prevented registration during the set period are provided. Registration Office will study the request and approve / disapprove the late registration request. Students registering late may not get modules and timings of their choice.

Students who wish to add or drop module(s) following initial registration should use the Add/Drop form to update their registration form. Add/Drop activity cannot take place outside the period set for the same.

The college may decide to cancel registration in modules where there is insufficient enrolment. This minimum may vary by modules and programmes offered. While organising modules with limited number of seats priority will be given to students in their final semester of study and who require the module to be offered for completion of degree or other academic requirements. This is followed by students who need the module as a prerequisite or co-requisite. Exceptions to these conditions may be made by the Registration Office under unusual individual circumstances subject to approval by the appropriate body.

Students registering for a module that has prerequisites should have secured at least D grade in all the modules that are set as prerequisites for that module. Certain cases where the student failed to take the end semester examination for those modules on account of genuine reasons, may be considered on a case to case basis provided the student has scored at least 40% in the internal coursework for that module.

In the case of modules that have co-requisites, students should simultaneously register for all the modules that are specified as co-requisites.
